Does your eyeliner look like it’s been drawn by a four-year old with a sharpie? Have you ever looked at the mirror and wondered how on earth you manage to pull off the Halloween look everyday? Have you resigned yourself to be tagged as one with zero eyeliner skills?
If your answers are yes, yes and yes, look no further (a dose of my quick tips are sure to soothe your nerves!).
Eyeliner has to be the most versatile makeup product ever and the cat eye the most sought after style- when it comes to eye makeup, every other client who walks into my salon asks for the winged eyeliner. It’s one style that can transform the way you look within minutes- a perfect application and you’ve nailed it, uneven lines and it can be a complete mess!
So what’s it about the cat eye that makes women go ga-ga?I say its simplicity makes itbeauty’s best kept secret!
Applying a perfect coat of winged liner doesn’t have to be rocket science. Master the art from the expert (me, of course!) in 5 simple steps.
Start with applying some neutral colored eyeshadow on the eyelid that matches your skin tone. Be sure to blend it in well. We want the cat eye to pop!
Use a fine eyeliner brush, preferably angled,to apply liner starting from the outer corner of your lid moving inward. Gel eyeliner works best to get a perfect, even line.
Wobbly hands? Start with a dotted line as close to the lash line as possible and join the dots! Go over the line again, making sure the outer corner is thick and it thins out as you move in to the inner corner of the eye.
Once your line is drawn, correct any mistakes with a pointed Q-tip dipped in concealer.
If you love experimenting like me, use a colored liquid liner to add an extra layer to your cat eye. Make sure the line is tapered towards the end. There. All done!
Easy, isn’t it? The first time’s always the hardest- keep practicing and soon you’ll be doing it in your sleep! To better visualize each step, here’s a video tutorial. More makeup tips to follow. Till then, stay beautiful!
